This Tracker Got a New Life with SeaDek - Boat Transformation

When this 2017 Tracker 175 TXW came to us, the customer was dealing with a frustrating issue that a lot of boat owners can relate to: the boat was still functional, but the flooring made it look tired, stained, and much older than it really was.

The original vinyl flooring had developed unusual staining that appeared to be coming from underneath the surface. From what we could tell, it seemed like the factory glue used beneath the vinyl may have been from a bad batch, slowly seeping through and leaving marks that no amount of washing, scrubbing, or cleaning could remove.

At that point, the customer had two choices. Live with the stained vinyl, or completely change the look and feel of the boat.

He chose SeaDek.

Vinyl flooring is common in many fishing boats, including Tracker boats, and it can be a practical option when it is new. But once it starts to stain, age, lift, or show glue-related issues, it can be extremely difficult to bring back.

That was the case with this Tracker 175 TXW. The stains were not sitting on top of the floor like normal dirt or grime. They appeared to be coming through the vinyl itself, which meant cleaning was never going to fully solve the problem.

Instead of fighting with the old flooring, we came in, properly resealed the surface, and installed custom SeaDek overtop to completely transform the boat.

For this project, the customer went with Charcoal over Black SeaDek, which gave the boat a clean, sharp, modern look.

We covered the bow deck, back deck, and cockpit, using a 4" teak line pattern with a 1" pinline. This gave the boat a custom, finished appearance without making it look overdone.

To take the design even further, we added a fish ruler and a custom-designed Bonefish floor logo. These details helped turn the project from a simple flooring replacement into a fully personalized SeaDek install.

This is one of the biggest advantages of custom SeaDek flooring. It is not just about covering old flooring. It gives you the ability to completely change the personality of the boat.

Covering Old Vinyl with SeaDek

In some cases, SeaDek can be installed over existing surfaces when the floor is properly inspected, prepped, and sealed. For this Tracker boat, the goal was to lock down the issue with the old vinyl and create a fresh new surface overtop.

Surface preparation is key. A proper SeaDek install is not just peel, stick, and hope for the best. The floor needs to be cleaned, assessed, and prepped correctly so the new SeaDek has the best possible foundation.

Once the surface was resealed and ready, we laid the new SeaDek flooring overtop, instantly changing the feel and appearance of the boat.

The result was a complete transformation. What once looked stained and worn now looked clean, custom, and ready for many more seasons on the water.
